Sermon Notes 05-10-09

May 10th 2009 "Men, Read The Directions"
" Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and GAVE HIMSELF UP for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands OUGHT to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself." Ephesians 5:25-28

1. Today we honor Mothers---MOM, WE LOVE YOU!

2. Different views of Mom:
4 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mom…duh!
16 YEARS OF AGE ~ My mom? She's like, so “not cool”.
18 YEARS OF AGE ~ That old woman? She's way out of touch!
25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wonder what Mom thinks about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

3. A Mother is what makes you put on a sweater when she feels cold!A Mother makes you eat spinach 'cause it'll give you good, strong teeth---she ought to feed some to Grandma!
Mrs. Wright said---"Orville and Wilbur---you can, get that bicycle shop off the ground!
Positive affirmations!
Mrs. Franklin said--"Ben, go fly a kite!"
Mrs. Washington said---"George---I think you have a 'Head for money!'"
Mr. Armstrong said---"Neil---why don't you go take a walk on the moon?"
Positive Affirmations!

Mom’s need to be paid for what they do!
“I love you!” “You’re the best mom ever!” “Thank You!” Visits to Nordstrom’s, Visit to Macys, Visits to Spas, Dining Out, Being the Center of Attention!

The Directions:
1st Learn to HONOR! AAAHONOR!

Ephesians 5:25 " Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church”
“Christ loved the church”—how did Christ love the church?

Luke 22:42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
To many men say: “My way or the highway!”

Mark 3:25 "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand."
Consider Jesus' relationships with women.
It was women who ministered to Him during His life. Women stayed to watch the crucifixion...women came to the tomb to anoint the body of Christ, and by that were the first witnesses of the resurrection.

Jesus never met an unimportant person!
HONOR! Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and MOTHER, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."

The Directions:
2nd Learn to RESPECT!

Even if you’re not married to Tina Turner, learn Women are territorialIllustration: I had two dogs---Buddy and Golden! These two dogs are very TERRITORIAL! If any other dog comes into our yard---they begin to bark and have a fit!

We are just like that---we are TERRITORIAL as well!
Example---(The Garage or the Kitchen) if I go into the kitchen and begin to tell her how to cook---I have found out that that is not my territory---I need to RESPECT her!
I have learned to carry the groceries down to the kitchen but I need to ask Sheri where she would like them put away! She has special places for things!

HONOR AND RESPECT go hand in hand!
Husbands---AAAAHONOR YOUR WIFE LIKE A PRINCESSES!

HONOR AND RESPECT!
I have found that most of the conflicts come directly from the LACK OF HONOR OR RESPECT!

Sheri's Territory:
HER CUPBOARDS---Her territory!
HER MAKEUP---Her territory!
HER CLOSET--Her territory!
HER PURSE----Her territory!

HONOR AND RESPECT!

C. We have two people in our household and both of them have LEADERSHIP personalities!
Without the RESPECT of the other persons abilities or TERRITORY---we would have CONFLICT MOST OF THE TIME!

In ever family there has to be a set of rules that we all play by!
E. RULES TO LIVE BY!
No screaming! No cussing!
When the sun goes down, the noise goes down.
Chew with your mouth closed at the dinner table!
Never switch channels while watching “What Not To Wear!”

5. Never flush the toilet when someone else is in the shower, because the water turns hot and burns the other guy!
RESPECT!---no family can long survive without it!

RESPECT the other persons---privacy, rights, and place!

The Directions:
1st Learn to HONOR! AAAHONOR!
2nd Learn to RESPECT! Women are territorial
3rd Learn to LOVE!

Allow no eating between meals.
Put all children in bed by 8:00 PM
Require them to take medicine without complaining.
Subdue self-will in a child.
Teach each one to pray as soon as he can speak.
Require all to be still during family worship.
Give them nothing that they cry for, and only that which they ask for politely.
Never let a sinful act go unpunished.
Never punish a child twice for a single offense.
Commend and reward good behavior.
Any attempt to please, even if poorly performed, should be commended.
Preserve property right, even in the smallest matters.
Strictly observe all promises.

16. Teach children to fear the rod.
